WWE WrestleMania 38

WWE WrestleMania 38

The main event of the 2020 edition of WWE’s biggest ever pay-per-view in America, which saw two teams lock horns for a place in the final four, was one of my favorites and still my favorite PPV. In fact, I’ll go as far to say that one cannot tell me anything better than how it ended on the night of Monday, November 28, 2020.

A year ago many fans were unaware of what was on tap for this show, while others had been paying little attention until the first episode aired late last month. Not only did they get their money’s worth but some came away with real memories and genuine feelings about who won or lost. One thing I always remember hearing from people at events is “You have never seen (team name) before you go out there so watch them on TV as if they are on film!” Well, that’s exactly what got us here! On May 5th we watched our heroes face off against a roster containing all major names on both teams – Big E, Brock Lesnar, AJ Styles, Dolph Bader Ginsberg, Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Sami Zayn, Seth Rollins, Shawn Michaels, John Cena, Kane Brown & Rey Mysterio and much more making this even bigger event than its predecessor.

I’m not going to lie when I say a lot of things were different in this one compared to what we saw last time around. Some of those changes made sense and others didn’t, but overall this felt like an incredible way to end another fantastic week (not to mention the previous week we had). When we are talking about a huge crowd of people, no single individual is being given the opportunity to just sit and enjoy the moment. Yes there was music there, and yes there was action, but ultimately these guys and gals from all over the world just wanted to relax after a tiring day and enjoy the spectacle of watching their teammates fight at home.

I must admit back here I thought the whole situation was crazy and the only reason I would spend $8,500.00 to come and see AJ Styles vs. Big E on Sunday nights was because of the hype surrounding the match and the potential ending. Now in hindsight, no two ways about it the whole situation wasn’t great. It’s quite literally all down to the final four to decide who lives and dies at WrestleMania, so the fans will want to know who we should expect to win and then be able to celebrate in person that night. However, everyone has a chance of winning and could lose there too, but that is where this story is leading. At last, we finally get to see who will take home the shiny trophy (and by shiny I mean the actual gold and not the backstage cash) and even though this is only meant for one day and for one country, I believe the stakes couldn’t be higher than what we see every spring at WrestleMania.

I’m looking forward to next week’s epic showdown between AJ Styles & Big E, but I think I could easily see this being stretched to six days or even longer depending on everything. Either way, there is nothing stopping either team from doing what they want and getting what they want. This was the most exciting big game in years, but as the saying goes “Money doesn’t grow on trees”. After a couple of months of waiting it is finally here which means the full power of WWE is once again unleashed upon these superstars. They can buy a few months of prime time and even use that money to pay good publicity stuntmen and make up the audience for the show. It really does feel like a dream come true for almost anyone watching. For me personally, this was all about having the best seats in the house and the best food. As I said earlier I don’t think this shows what a difference a stadium makes, but I can appreciate what it’s like in terms of entertainment. A fan feels like they might never get a chance to talk to anyone else again and get to witness this spectacle live. That’s something the entire industry needs desperately right now and this will surely do wonders.

For the rest of you who are hoping to bring your friends to try and make this happen in 2021, I hope you find yourselves in the same place. Just remember what happened seven years ago and also remember who’s actually coming to the show next week. Because next week someone will definitely get there.
